ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Our 3 year plan is to be able to offer places in our vocational training programme to people with all needs and to be able to support all those needs sufficiently. At present, we want to ensure the programme sufficiently and successful supports our trainees so we can only accept new trainees whose needs we can meet fully.

In order to access our programme, each person must be able to:

  • Toilet independently
  • Be able to communicate either by speech, sign or using an assisted device
  • Be physically able to independently manoeuvre up/down stairs and around the training centre and coffee shop
  • No physical violence (if your child is or has ever been on a behaviour plan please share this with us in order to ensure their own safety and safety for our staff)

If you feel your family member is able to access our programme, please click here to download an enrollment form. If you are unsure of anything or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

As each trainee follows an individual plan, in most cases we are able to accept enrollment all year round. Our programme runs over 46 weeks a year with just 6 weeks holidays, see our calendar for more information.

ENROLMENT

We are partially self-funded but as a social enterprise, we do rely on donations, investors and education fees. We began Steps with a crowd funding campaign and we were overwhelmed with the response and support we have received from the local community. Community is incredibly important to us and an integral component to ensuring success for our students. Without a community approach there will be no employment beyond our coffee shop and our trainees will once again be segregated from society.

We keep our education fees as low as possible to ensure the programme is accessible to as many families as possible. We also offer scholarships to families from disadvantaged backgrounds and work closely with local centres. For more information about scholarships click here.

Our programme is full-time with just 6 weeks holiday per year. From experience, our students benefit from being in education as often as possible, during long breaks we often see regression and less motivation to learn. To see our calendar please click here.

To download an enrolment form for the full-time vocational programme please click here for an interactive form or here for a printable form. Once our team has reviewed the application we will invite you and your family member to come and meet with us to discuss how we can best work together to meet their needs. We cannot guarantee staff will be available for walk-in appointments but feel free to come and see our coffee shop before meeting with us.

See our fee structure here.
